We are excited to announce that Green Hydrogen Systems, Eurowind Energy and Lhyfe has entered into a master supply agreement covering delivery of up to 24 MW electrolysis capacity. With this agreement, the three parties are granting each other mutual exclusivity. The large-scale production and storage of green hydrogen from solar and wind produced at GreenLab Skive will partly be processed into green methanol for use in the transport sector and partly used directly as a green, zero-emission fuel for heavy transport
With this master supply agreement, the three parties are granting each other mutual exclusivity for the establishment of a green hydrogen production plant of up to 24 MW electrolysis capacity. The large-scale production and storage of green hydrogen from solar and wind produced at GreenLab Skive will partly be processed into green methanol for use in the transport sector and partly used directly as a green, zero-emission fuel for heavy transport. The objective of the project is to pave the way for large-scale Power-to-X projects with the potential to not only affect the Danish energy transition but also to accelerate Europe’s path to climate neutrality by 2050.
The first phase of the electrolyser plant is approximately 12 MW, and it is expected to be installed at the end of 2022. Green Hydrogen Systems will be responsible for operating the plant for the first 24 months. Thereafter, the operation will be taken over by Eurowind Energy and Lhyfe.
Sebastian Koks Andreassen, CEO of Green Hydrogen Systems says: “We believe that Power-to-X will be a crucial part of our future energy system. This world’s first large-scale combined green hydrogen and green methanol plant is a major opportunity to demonstrate our technology. This project will be a cornerstone for us in achieving the necessary scale for technological advancement and will contribute to lowering the levelised cost of hydrogen towards cost parity with fossil fuels.”
Jens Rasmussen, CEO of Eurowind Energy said: “The agreement is proof of our commitment to the development of the hydrogen industry in Denmark and the rest of Europe. There is still plenty of work to do however this is a significant milestone for the project and we are proud of the progress we have made so far. We have come to appreciate the dedication and professionalism of Green Hydrogen Systems and we look forward to the cooperation in the years to come.” Matthieu Guesné, CEO, Lhyfe says: “The project is a large-scale project and will be a crucial demonstration on how efficient green hydrogen production is feasible already today. Lhyfe is glad to share our know-how and join Eurowind Energy and Green Hydrogen Systems in this world-class project.”
GreenLab Skive has earlier in May been designated by the Danish government as one of the two official regulatory test zones, exempting GreenLab Skive from electricity regulations in order to develop solutions to utilise and integrate of unprecedented amounts of renewable energy into the energy system. The test zone permits are one of a kind in Europe, and the insights will be valuable for all of Europe’s green transition – including clean energy storage, green fuels, agriculture, and industry.
